Place and time of creation: The painting was created by the english artist Jurita Kalite (Kalitis) (in the future called as “Jurita”). Jurita’s art studio in London UK, November 2019.
Technique of work:
The picture is completely unique. Used painting technique, short small brushstrokes, which excluded backup and exact repetition. The picture will always be only a single instance.
The painting is painted with high quality “Winsor & Newton” artist’s oil colour paints on canvas gallery stretching.
Oil painting was waiting fully dry within a couple of months before was protected with dammar varnishing. Dammar Varnish the oldest liquid varnish, this gives a very high gloss and gives protection to recently completed oil paintings.
In the Southeastern part of the historic center of Old Riga, along the Peitavas iela and the Alksnāja iela, there are a number of old merchant and storage warehouses with hoist of 17th century. Some of them have been restored, while others are still in various states of decay.
Here Jurita tried to convey to the viewer the historical atmosphere of the city from the 17th century.
The provenance of the painting is clear and under no doubt. The painting was written in the artist’s studio in London.

Now the property of the artist’s family, on permanent display at the Lady Ju Art Gallery, City of Westminster, London United Kingdom.
All these years, the painting was kept by the Family Gallerie of the artist and remained unscathed.

It’s a personal letter to the buyer on Ms Jurita’s letterhead documenting the title of the piece, size and medium and the support, to whom it was sold and the date. This begins the ‘provenance’ of the artwork which can be passed on to any new owner documenting a sale or gift to another. Ms Jurita also include the statement that she retain all copyrights to the image.
