‘CAN ART AND BASKETBALL STOP KNIFE CRIME AND SAVE HUMANITY?
NASSA with Artist Jurita Kalite tried to stop knife crime by getting teenagers on their Sport and Art workshop.
What will happen at the event:
Young’s basketballers will experiment with and taste the Art in Sport’ in our an workshop of art, with a guest painter Jurita Kalite.
Opportunity for the NASSA young people to show off their art skills and creative talents using the basketball court as their inspiration.
What is interesting about it:
Young’s basketballers will hear a ex-prize winning sportsmen talk about his career in Art and what the future holds for his/her field.
Working sportsmens talk about the Art that has inspired them, such as the discovery of the Art Sport’s role in our life and prevent knife crime on the streets.

NATASHA HART MBE
Natasha Hart, founder and chief executive of Newham All Star Sports Academy (NASSA), has been made a Member of the British Empire (MBE). Through CABNAB, more than 3,000 young people in east London are educated on the dangers of knife crime and gang culture each week.
Natasha Hart moved to east London from her native Russia 26 years ago. She had played basketball in her youth and as a mother she wanted to pass on her love for the game to her two teenage sons.
Natasha holds the unique distinction of having carried torches at consecutive Olympiads. She was invited to carry the Olympic Torch for the London 2012 Games and, hailing from the Sochi region of Russia, she was then chosen to carry the Paralympic Torch ahead of the Sochi 2014 Winter Games.
In June 2015, Natasha was made a Member of the British Empire (MBE) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list for services to Sport in East London.
Sergei is an artist, restorer, icon painter and curator of the Lady Ju Gallery in Westminster. His works have been displayed in over 200 exhibitions around the world, including in his native Estonia.
He has won many awards for his art, but his greatest contribution to his passion was his work in the African country of Angola. Sergei spent 10 years in Angola as a volunteer offering free art classes to young people in the impoverished county, donating money where he could to schools and sharing his love of art in order to inspire others.

JURITA KALITE (KALITIS)
Jurita is a web design professional who id devoted to the arts. Having earned a Certificate in University of Tel Aviv, she continues to learn about contemporary art and design on courses throughout London.
She founded Lady Ju Gallery in 2016 and has since been involved in the development of the gallery and the integration of new technologies in the art field. Her experience working in galleries includes liaising with artists and their representatives, sales, social media promotion and organising exhibitions. She is inspired by working with artists – their passion fuels her own.
